Submissions

Vision

The vision of Worth Writing is to provide an online space for women to share writing that is theologically rich, relatable, and relevant. Our goal is to walk alongside women on their spiritual journeys and encourage them to press toward heaven as they navigate life on earth.

Our Writers & Readers

This is a blog by women like you, for women like you. Our writers are primarily women who attend NETS Network churches or have a connection to NETS. Our readers are family, church family, sisters in Christ, neighbors, and friends. They come from all ages and stages of life and may be Christian or non-Christian. They attend NETS Network and NETS Partner churches and, if the Lord wills, churches throughout New England and beyond.

Topics

We want to know how your faith makes a difference in your everyday life. To that end, writing should be theologically rich, relatable, and relevant. We are looking for submissions in these general categories:

FAITH WORKS

How does God’s Word impact how you navigate life’s joys and trials? How has God revealed more of his character to you in the course of your everyday life? How does biblical truth shape your journey? Posts may include practical steps others can take as they seek to work out their faith every day.

REFLECTIONS

Reflections relate scriptural truth to life in a more contemplative way. We’ll have a special category of reflections called Sermon Notes, an opportunity to share an “aha!” moment from a sermon or talk by a pastor at your church. If you’re new to writing, Sermon Notes might be a good place to start!

STORIES

We love to hear testimonies! Tell us about God’s saving work in your life, or share what you see God doing in your church.

Note: If you wish to alter identifying details of a story to respect the privacy of others, please include a brief note letting us know you’ve done that.

Writer’s Guidelines

Theology

All submissions should reflect biblical truth and respect the authority of Scripture. Writing must be in general agreement with the beliefs NETS affirms, found here.

Tone

You are writing to the woman sitting next to you on Sunday, the neighbor you grab coffee with, the friend at another church. Be genuine, personal, and honest. Seek to build each other up and speak truth in love.

Length

Submissions can be brief or longform, ranging from about 500–2,000 words.

Ownership

You retain ownership of your writing. If you submit an article published on Worth Writing for publication elsewhere, include this notice: “This post was originally published at worthwriting.org.” We will also consider previously published content. If your submission was previously published, include the link with your submission.

AI and ChatGPT

We do not accept articles written by AI (artificial intelligence), ChatGPT, or similar products. We want to hear from real women about their lived experience.

Submission Process

Feel free to start by submitting an idea for feedback!

Email lisa@thenetscenter.org or call (802) 578-6430.

Completed submissions should be sent as a Microsoft Word document to:

wwsubmissions@thenetscenter.org

Include with your submission:

  • Your name, cell number, and email address
  • Your proposed article title
  • What church you attend
  • Your connection to NETS

What happens next?

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee your article will be accepted for publication. We welcome all submissions, but please submit with an open hand.

If your submission is accepted, we’ll start the editing process. We may make edits or ask you to make edits. You’ll have a chance to review your article before publication. We will also make any necessary changes not related to content (e.g., grammar, punctuation, house style, etc.).

Once an article is ready for publication, we will need a 2–3 sentence biography with information about you (family, occupation, ministry involvement, what church you attend, etc.) as well as your connection to NETS. Include something that will help people get to know you (hobbies, fun or interesting fact, etc.) and a recent photo of yourself (but not a selfie).

Because You Asked

Do I need to be a pastor’s wife to write for Worth Writing?

No! If you attend a NETS Network church, are a NETS graduate, or are connected to NETS in some way, we want to hear from you! We will also consider submissions from women outside the NETS Network. Please contact us about your interest in Worth Writing at the email address below.

What if I’m not a writer?

You’re in good company! We are not professional writers. We are women growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who want to share our journeys with others. Before submitting your article, get feedback from people you respect and edit your writing to the best of your ability. We will work with you on any further editing once your article is submitted.
